Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Great food! The atmosphere is pretty normal for a local establishment; however the food sets it apart. I had the Sydney pizza (based on a Yelp recommendation ... thanks) and it was simply amazing. The caramelized onions and the chorizo were a great combo ... I highly recommend this dish. My friend got the New Yorker and thought is was very good; I would not have enjoyed it because it was loaded with ricotta cheese. The beer selection was very good as well. They have the basics and several local brews on tap. Service was really good and the wait staff was friendly. It was surprisingly fast service for a pizza joint. Would absolutely recommend and would return if in the area.

Excellent old school style pizzeria, ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer which was excellent, veal parmesan was not bad... The large spaghetti noodles coulda been smaller, kids ordered the goat cheese Julio pizzas which were better than I thought, highly recommend trying the local beers as well... Monkeynaut was a great choice!

Its good for hampton cove. Decemt pizza, but costly. Pizzolis are recommended by my family Dont get an appetizer, small and costly, and taste like it came from a box.

Just tried this pizza joint for the first time tonight, and I am a pizza snob. This pizza is very, VERY good!! This restaurant has a new fan!

Update 9 Feb 14. I am really enjoying the Sydney pizza (Cacciatore sauce base, mozzarella, chorizo, sautéed cherry tomatoes, caramelized onions, bacon, and fresh basil). I have to say this is one of the most interesting combinations. Also have very reasonable priced meals if you go with a "small" servings which are more. Good family place with great people but the food is a bit clumsy. They try hard but seem to over do it. Some sauces tend to be heavy and overwhelming. The basics like lasagna and sp. w meatballs are good. Pizzas are generally pretty good and they have some unusual combinations but overall they don't matchup to Mellow Mushroom. Prices are good and for kids, amazingly low. They bring little kids a dough ball to play with which is sort of cool although our child is not interested.

Restaurant came highly recommended. I'm guessing we should have gotten the pizza. Arrived for a late-ish lunch (1.30p) on a weekday. Service was slow. Young lady serving was pleasant, but just very slow - about 10 mins each between seating and drinks and again between drinks and taking our order. Both ended up with versions of chicken salads (wife originally tried to order salmon, but kitchen was out - we were offered red snapper, but i really don't trust the veracity of red snapper anymore, particularly this far from the coast). Greens were fresh, but chicken was freshly microwaved, pre-seasoned half-rubber stuff that one gets in a bag at Costco. Still, will definitely go back to try the pizza and give them a second chance.

Fantastic appetizers and great calzones...try the New Yorker sans ricotta. The arti-garlic pizza's pretty worthwhile, too!

As I always say, I am a complete pizza snob, having lived in Italy (and eaten pizzetta's on the streets of Naples) and lived in New Haven CT for 12 years. I thought I would head over to Tortora's, as It's one of the local places that is apparently the best. Not completely disgusting, but nowhere near good. The cooked mozzarella cheese congealed so probably wasn't fresh, but the cheap compressed stuff. you have to put fresh mozzerella on a margherita pizza!! come on!! The small pizza here is 8 inches or something, ridiculously small. The locals seem to like this place. I will probably go back and try some of there other pizzas.

The Carlucci (gorgonzola & mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes, prosciutto slices, fresh basil & reduced balsamic & olive oil) was superb. Also, this place has, hands down, the best cheese bread in town. I love this place, just wish it wasn't so far out... Try it and see what "real" pizza tastes like.

The pizza is very good.. I highly recommend the Julio.

We have eaten here many times and have always loved the food we ordered! We take our out of town friends here for a real treat! Atmosphere is awesome! We went to Italy a few months ago and this Pizza was better than some we had there.

Great food, lacking service. While everyone I e encountered here is friendly, don't expect to wait less than 30 or 40 mins for your food, and that's once someone finally comes to greet you. Once you get the food, it's pretty good. Just expect to wait.

Great pizza and great selection of draft beers. They also have a complete menu with pasta, veal, salmon etc. friendly staff that remembers you!

Love, love, love the pizza! The lobster ravioli was good too. Haven't tried the salads yet, but they looked really good. I want to try some of their other menu items, but I can't pass up the pizza every time we go!

Tortora's won second place in Italy for an international pizza competition, and it's apparent in the quality of their pizza. I've eaten their pizza countless times, and each time their reputation is reinforced. When I go, a friend and I usually share a 12" pizza with pepperoni and sausage. The sausage on the pizza is amazing! It's not the ground-up little balls you'll usually find; it's actually sliced sausage that tastes very flavorful and delicious. I usually don't eat the crust of pizzas, but the quality of Tortora's ingredients demand you eat it until completion, and I'm only too happy to oblige. This restaurant completely puts other pizza chains (Pizza Hut, Dominoes, etc) to shame. It's because of Tortora's that I now refer to these other pizza chains as "fast food." I still eat and like that kind of pizza, but Tortora's is a giant step above. The atmosphere is casual, the service is excellent, and the tables are clean. The drive over Monte Sano to get there is definitely worth the trip for some of the best pizza you'll ever eat.

We love their pizza's. Salads are good. The service takes awhile so go with time to spare.

Tortora's has pretty good pizza. I got the Chix Parm (GREAT!) and another friend had the 1 w/ Arugala. The cheese sticks were a little lackluster, basically pizzacrust covered in cheese with hardly an effort made to turn them into sticks. Would have been nicer if they were served differently...and they skimped on the dipping sauce, giving a party of 3 only 1 teenie container.. But the pizza made up for the negatives. I'd go again.

Very good pizza not the best ever but very good

Best pizza in town - period. Try the "Sydney" - not on the menu but a prize winner - chorizo sausage, sauteed onions, bacon, balsamic. The house salad is fantastic with pears and gorgonzola. Decent beer selection includes Chimay and Delirum Tremons on tap. Great owners and staff, lots of flatscreen tv's, real casual, good for families too. We eat at Tortora's at least once a week with friends. It's in a strip mall behind the Publix grocery store in Hampton Cove.

I have lived in Huntsville for over 20 years, and travel all over the country every week. I have to say after all my travels, Tortora's has the best pizza I have ever eaten.I would suggest avoiding too many vegetables toppings because the pie will get soggy. If you are looking for top quality ingredients with some amazing crust.... Give Tortora's a try.

My family and another family went here to celebrate their daughter's birthday. There were seven of us and they tried to cram us into a table that was best suited for five at the most. Our waitress was only hearing what she wanted to here and got drink orders wrong. I had a pizza (not sure which one) but it was a little greasy for my liking. The worse thing had to be my daughters mac-n-cheese. It was made with low grade cheese and after it started to cool it looked disgusting as the oils separated and it started clumping. I thought it was hard to screw up mac and cheese until this. My daughter loves mac and cheese and if she wouldn't eat it, it must have been bad. For the birthday desert we specifically asked them to leave the fruit on and not to add the chocolate syrup but it came out exactly opposite. Needless to say I will not be going back.

This could very well be some of the best pizza in the Huntsville area. Side salads are great: the house is quite unique with spring mix, pecans, and pears. The pizza crust is not thick and doughy and perfectly cooked, great sauce, and the toppings are spectacular. The sausage & meatballs are sliced like thick pepperoni. The Chicken parmesean pizza is wonderful. Three of us split a pizza and left very satisfied.

Best Pizza....ever! I love the Arti-Garlic; definitely my favorite. Crust is excellent, not soggy. IMHO it sure beats the Mellow Mushroom. I had the Fried Ravioli the other day for lunch and it was great (even though I'm not a big fan of fried food).

We have been to Tortora's many times and I have to say, this place is The BEST! The food is absolutely delicious with original dishes on the menu. The service is always the best and the atmosphere is family-friendly. The prices are very reasonable given the super quality and deliciousness of the food. Nothing compares to this Italian gem in Hampton Cove!
